Seasonal Workers in the Agricultural Sector

Seasonal Workers in the Agricultural Sector

The Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program allows Canadian farm employers to hire seasonal workers from Mexico and the Caribbean during the planting and harvesting season when local workers are unable to fulfill the labour demands. The program is available to those who are 18 years of age or older, from one of the participating countries.  Seasonal workers are subject to Canadian income tax laws and are required to contribute to both the Canada Pension Plan and Employment Insurance.

If you need further clarification on this program, including how much tax you should withhold and what is exempt, we are experienced in this area and here to help.  Call our Agribusiness team anytime.
